Are you throwing your life away?

This morning I stumbled across a quote from the writing of C. JoyBell C., which seemed to echo one of the things we talked about at Love and Inspiration yesterday morning. She wrote, “You can be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don't know it, all of that doesn't even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away. It's not like you have forever, so don't waste any of your seconds, don't throw even one of your moments away.”

It seems that doubting one’s self is something many of us have mastered. We no longer need to practice doubting or criticizing ourselves; we have practiced it for so long, that we have mastered it. It does not matter how much others believe in us and our abilities, if we do not have confidence in ourselves that we can achieve something, then we can’t. It doesn’t matter how others perceive us, because our reality is based on how we perceive ourselves. At some level we all know that. I can remember a time in my life when others saw me as light and rainbows and I saw myself as just average. Every time someone paid me a compliment, the voice in the back of my head would wonder why they were lying to me. Over the last several years, I have had to recognize that the voice within which lies to me is not of the Ultimate. The voice, which speaks to me from a space of love, is of the Ultimate and is seeing to help me make the most of my life.

Those little voices are called doubt and negativity. When we recognize that they are not of the Ultimate, then we can remember that simple acronym DDNN (doubt doubt and negate negativity). As I blogged about a few months ago, there is a scripture in the Book of Proverbs Chapter 3, 5-6 which reads “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track” (The Message version). I once heard it suggested that this scripture is the prescription for living a successful life.

When we listen to the voice of the Divine, in whom we were created, then we know we are capable of doing all that we strive to do in our lives. Our confidence in ourselves is related to our confidence in the Creator. If we are confident, have faith, have that deep knowledge that the Ultimate guides and directs our lives, and then we have the confidence to know we can accomplish all things in our lives. There is no doubt about anything we are being led to do . When we doubt the guidance and signs, then it is ultimately about us not trusting in our Higher Power. The lack of trust in our Higher Power also plays out in our relationships. How can we trust our Higher Power, when we cannot trust others or even ourselves? How many blessings and how much love have we thrown away because of our doubt and negativity?

When we remember the negativity is not from our Higher Power either; it comes from within us as we negate who we are and who we were created to be. How often have we negated the notion that our Higher Power trusts us, inspires us, guides us, and provides signs and symbols for us to guide us along our path? When we do so, we throw a part of our legacy away. Starting today, may we stop throwing our blessings and our life away.
