Stop Listening

April 21, 2025 Sharon Jacobson

Stop Listening

We all have people in our lives
we need to stop listening to,
starting with ourselves.
Our ego fills us with fear and insecurities.
We lie to ourselves about how important we are,
we fill ourselves with fear and insecurities
or speak words to move us to
a state of denial and avoidance.
We are not the world,
just part of it.
We are not what we have.
Our possessions do not define us.
We are not what we do.
We are more then any act or achievement.
We are more then what others think about us,
we are not their beliefs,
we are ours.
When we stop listening to the ego within,
we realize we are more then what we have
or do not.
When we stop listening to the ego,
we listen more to the Ultimate
who lives within us
and through us.
When we stop listening,
we focus on being a part of the world,
not thinking we are it.
May we stop listening to our ego
and start sharing
with each other.

Easing out the Ego

Easing out the Ego

I know we all have one,
but I am working on easing mine out.
I am ever mindful about how my ego
gets in the way.
My ego is filled with creativity,
but not in a good way.
it creates stories
which can fill me with fear,
distrust,
and worry about what might happen,
what others might do,
and scenarios based on fallacy.
Ego is about easing God out.
So if I ease out my ego,
I make greater room in my soul
to ease God in.

What You See

March 19, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

My Bubby would say,
when you can see the blessing
in any situation,
then you will be okay.
She taught me
what I looked for
I would find.
If I looked for problems
I would find them
if I looked for gifts and blessings
I would find them

The more I look for something
the more of it I will find.
The one little problem
will become a huge field of them.
The smallest of blessings
will lead to a path of growth and evolution.

What I look for in life
is what I will find.

What if you saw each “problem”
as a teacher,
as a gift
which was bringing you closer
to your Higher Power

What if life was filled
with nothing but
opportunities for
growth and evolution.
What if we cannot see them
because we let our ego
blur our vision.
Today let us give thanks
in all circumstances and
work to see the blessings and gifts
in all life brings our way.
