Cleaning Up

August 27, 2024 Sharon Jacobson

Cleaning Up

I crawled,
well more like rolled,
into bed last night
thinking about my day.
I thought about how I had been of service,
and made a difference
in someone’s day.
I gave thanks for all the opportunities
to be of service.
Then I thought about
the moments I had messed up,
could have been kinder,
could have been more helpful,
and all the could have and should have moments
in my day
and I realized each of them
was still an opportunity
for me to do better
and make a difference in the world.
I realized that even in the process
of cleaning up our messes in life,
we are being humble,
we are being accountable,
we are working on being better as human beingsl
helping others find the courage
to do the same.
We all have messy moments in our life,
but when we all clean up
the messes we can,
we help to make this world a better place.
We help others to clean up their space,
and that process ripples out
and affects the world
spreading a desire
for all of us to
clean up.

BEING HUMBLE

February 26, 2021 Sharon Jacobson

Humble

Why don’t you brag about yourself?
That is what I was asked today,
and I found myself very uncomfortable.
My accomplishing something
is not about me,
it is about me using the gifts and talents
I was given to make this world a better place.
I don’t see these things as being about me,
but about my thanking the Ultimate
for all I have been blessed with.
I am also willing to talk about how blessed I am,
but I have never been one to brag.
I am important,
but I am not of the greatest importance.
I strive to put others needs and concerns
before mine.
That doesn’t mean
I don’t take care of myself.
It just means that loving others,
honoring others,
respecting others
Is of utmost importance.
It means I know we all
bring a piece of the truth
to the table.
It means I am open to the
knowledge of others, ?
the solutions others bring
to the table
Being humble is about
knowing that I am
surrounded by greatness
and being open to
the gifts others bring to the table
to help me grow
and be humble.
