One of my favorite songs is from the Wizard of Oz, Somewhere over the rainbow, as it reminds to dare to dream. It inspired me to write a poem of my own.
Somewhere over the rainbow
way up high
are the dreams that I dream of
As I walk in the light
Somewhere over the rainbow
where the angels fly
are the visoins I dream of
experiencing them in the light
Sometimes I dream of falling asleep and
waking up on a pillow of clouds
where the struggles are beyond me
Sitting on a cloud of peace
with the warmth of a blanket made of fleece
Oh, somewhere over the rainbow there is more to see
And more than I can envision exists,
Inviting me to open my eyes so they might hear
and open my ears that they might see
I wish that there were words to speak,
about the whiteness I see
and the way the world speaks
Feeling such amazing peace
Yet I know for now this visit will cease
I have seen the skies of blue
And the clouds of white
I have felt the peace beyond understanding
and taken a moment to reflect on
how little the Ultimate is demanding
In the colors of the rainbow
In the smell of freshly mowed grass
in the softness of the petals
in the sensation of the morning dew
in the taste of hot chocolate
I know the Ultimate is saying, I...I love you
The Ultimate has heard me cry and watched me grow
and understands me more than even I know
and each time I wake, I remember to give thanks
for the wisdom I hold and the witness I speak
I don’t have to wish upon a star
to go to where the clouds are far behind me
or where trouble melts like lemon drops
high above the chimney top, because
with the Ultimate is where you will find me
Today and every day I dare to experience
the fullness of the blessings the Ultimate has for me.
So I step forward with trust and a heart of wonder
as I continue the next phase of this journey of self discovery.
