Spiritual Farming
Do you ever think about where your food comes from?
I do.
I not only think about where
but those involved in its growth
and those who pay attention to it
nurture it,
harvest it,
and deliver it to me
so I can use it to nurture
those I love.
All this is true of the physical foods
which enter my life,
but what about the food I am personally growing?
Not the plants in the garden I do not have,
but the seeds I plant in myself.
The seeds of intentional personal and spiritual growth
which come to me through contemplation,
patience,
and kindness.
I cannot harvest,
what I do not prepare for and sow.
I plant within me
and then like a farmer,
I tend to myself in ways that are nurturing,
weeding out the negativity,
and nurturing myself with
all I need to grow
and patience for that growth to occur.
ultimately, I begin the harvest,
as I am able to fill myself with the very crops
I have planted and nurtured.
My current crops are
love,
joy,
peace,
patience,
kindness,
goodness, and
faithfulness.
