Messages from the Ultimate
I love reading through past messages
and discovering lessons
and messages
or hearing from loved ones
who are no longer in this realm.
I was thinking about my friend Laura
who would message me
when I was late posting my thought for the day
asking if I was okay.
She always noticed when I broke a pattern.
She also could not celebrate her birthday
without a tray of my lasagna and a tray of my orange brownies.
Today I was reminded I had a memory with her
and I remembered that I made those brownies just for her.
I woke up thinking about how I just want
to have made a difference
and then I realized that I do unto others
as they do for me.
Like my friends who help me see the waves
of love and inspiration and strength
I have sent into the world.
You don’t have any idea, a friend said,
of how many people have been washed in your love,
your wisdom, your grace,
and the gifts you so freely share.
I remember your stories,
and I have shared them with my clients
and who knows where they went from there.
Then I remembered how I taught that to my church,
when I dumped a jar of marbles
because too many were gossiping
and spreading rumors
and weeks and months later,
we were still finding marbles.
Then there was the message
a former student send me
of how she had one of my quotes
hanging over her desk.
If I could get a text directly from the Ultimate,
it would say,
still wondering if you are making a difference?
