Nothing Can Hold Back the Spring

December 12, 2025 Sharon Jacobson

Nothing Can Hold Back the Spring

Nothing can hold back the spring.
I remember Rev Callan saying that
as if it were yesterday.
We were in the midst of an ice storm
and people were without power
and everyone was struggling
in the midst of a really rough winter.
It was all going to be okay,
because nothing can hold back the spring.
In the midst of the storm,
it was hard to image that the season would pass
and the flowers would bloom
and we would be enjoying all the gifts of spring.
In the midst of it all he reminded us that
nothing can hold back the spring.
I have been through some rough times in my life,
as I am sure you have
and I am sure there have been moments
where you wondered
am I going to make it through.
Then you did,
you made it through the frustration,
the pain,
the tears,
the challenges, and
the depression.
You made it through the times
you wanted to hibernate,
escape from reality,
and pretend like it just wasn’t happening.
In the midst of it though,
we have remembered that
nothing can hold back the spring.
Nothing keeps us from overcoming,
from surviving,
from regenerating,
from rejuvenating,
and from thriving.
No matter what you are going through,
no matter how challenging it may be,
just stop, pray, breathe and give thanks and
remember nothing can hold back the spring.

Remembering my Purpose

December 2, 2022 Sharon Jacobson

Remembering my Purpose

Like anyone else,
I am human.
I have my moments
when I feel down,
depressed,
frustrated,
and want to give up.
Then I remember
I am only allowed for these
to be moments,
commercials in my life.
I only allow them to last for seconds,
before I remember that
I was created for a purpose.
There is a master plan for my being here.
I may not know it,
but I still walk in it
one step at a time,
only seeing what is revealed to me.
My walking, for me,
is like faith.
My left leg knows where it is
and what it is doing.
My right leg does not.
With no feeling or sensation,
it is just there.
I cannot feel it moving or walking,
It is about me trusting that
the same power that I can feel guiding my left leg
is the same power guiding my right.
The same power which guides me on the good days,
is the same that guides me when I am down.
Regardless, I have to remember
that I was created with a purpose and a plan,
whether I can see or understand it yet or not.
I have a purpose and I have a plan
and so do you.
