No Matter What

December 27, 2024 Sharon Jacobson

No Matter What

No matter what,
give thanks.
That is what my Bubby would say.
In good times or challenging times,
no matter what
give thanks.
She taught me to see
every moment in my life
whether of pain or confusion
or joy or clarity
or anything in between
as an opportunity
of growth to grow.
She would always tell me
no matter what
give thanks.
This attitude of gratitude
no matter what
enables me to give thanks
in all circumstances
and to see even the most challenging of times
as gifts.
Even the most challenging of times
is a chance to grow,
a chance to evolve
a chance to use the gifts I have been given
and carry all opportunities
with grace.

100% of our donations go to support our ability to provide low and no cost offerings to those seeking to grow and evolve spiritually.

Empathy

December 13, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

When I think of
Empathy
I tend to think of
empathizing
with another person’s sorrow,
disappointment, and
pain.
I think of tasting the salt
in someone else’s tears

Empathy is
about oneness between us.
It means I can feel with you
and be in oneness with you
in good times and bad
I can taste the sweetness
in your joy as well as
the salt in your tears.

Empathy is
about me journeying with you
and thinking about when I was
in that place or situation
and how it felt.

Empathy is
about the intimacy between us
and between us and the Divine
which connect us.
it is about knowing
someone is with us
in good times and bad

Empathy is
about sharing
about caring
about being intimate

about allowing the Divine in me

to connect with the Divine in you.

Empathy is
about us connecting
as one
in good times and bad
because we care
and know we are
both images of the Divine.

No running away.

March 21, 2015 Sharon Jacobson
no more running.jpg

So today I just want to thank you for the reminder to not run, not that I can physically run anyway (LOL). I was looking for quotes about being present I could use for the thoughts for the day this month, when I stumbled upon this powerful reminder from Geri Larkin in The Still Point Dhammapada. “

Being upright means staying smack dab in the middle of what's going on. No running away. No pretending that the situation is any different than it is. It means breathing in and out and listening to our heart. And asking only one question: What can I do right this minute? Sometimes I think of it as "mountain and river" practice. Detroit is all too often a mountain of heartbreaks and a river of sorrows. All I can do is look for cracks where some help can be offered. Sometimes I can only witness. Some days I can only pick up garbage or make the first call to a shelter or delete the email and chant for the person who wrote it.
