Cake Walk
The one thing we all have in common is that we were born and many of us do something with our friends and family each year to celebrate our birthdays. What we do may change over the course of our life, but most of us have birthday memories, especially from when we were children.
My mother was an awesome baker and always baked me an awesome cake on the day my adoption was finalized. They celebrated that more then my birthday. It was when I was born into their family. A friend of mine, Melissa told me about how she has created a tradition for her children. She lets them pick the kind of birthday cake they want to have. Last year, her daughter wanted a Barbie cake. So, she used the Pampered Chef recipe using the Batter Bowl for the Barbie dress cake. Melissa doesn’t think she is much of a baker, but she has baked amazing memories into her kids hearts as they have loved every cakse she has ever made for them. The fact that they get to say what they want and then she makes it happen makes their birthdays special. She hopes they will always remember those moments and I am sure she will. If her son asks for a baseball cap cake, we have a recipe for that too.
There is something about childhood memories that keep us warm even when we age. My mother would make me rugelach and taught me how to make them with her. To this day, I still remember how to make them and passed that memory down to my niece years ago.
Today, I see people creating new birthday traditions using our products. I love seeing the cakes filled with surprises like this Tie Dye Surprise Cake which is filled with sprinkles that come out when sliced or the Numbers and Letters Cake Pan which allows you to make cakes at a child’s age or even spell out their name. I am going to make Zoe her favorite Pineapple Upside Down Cake but in the shape of a Z and if I have enough time I may spell out her name. If I can figure out how to make a keto version for me, I might do an S for my birthday in cheesecake or a Rice Krispie treat.
If I knew it would not affect my blood sugar, here are a few of the cake recipes I would make for my birthday, which is coming up soon. Which one do you want to try? BTW did I say my favorite cake is cheesecake LOL What is your favorite birthday cake memory or tradition?
