Y is for You

May 21, 2013 Sharon Jacobson

So much of the suffering we experience in our lives comes because we can compare ourselves to someone other then ourselves. You are you. I am me. Comparing myself to you is like comparing apples to oranges. They are both wonderful in their own right and just as they are. Each of them brings their own gifts to the table of fruits. So starting today, honor yourself. Honor the person you are. Who you know yourself to be may be different from who others know you to be and that is ok. How others see you is about them. Honor yourself for who you are.

Give yourself permission to be the best you that you can be. Invest in yourself. Take the time to express yourself and take the baby steps or the giant leaps to live your life in such a way that you are expressing the fullness of who you are and who you were created to be. As the song says, “express yourself.” There is no need to express yourself, as others want you to, as a book tells you to or even how you were raised to express yourself. You do not need someone else to tell you who you are. You are divine by design because you were designed by the divine. You are a divine original, so express yourself in the fullness of who you were created to be by loving yourself and others. There is not, never has been, and never will be anyone exactly like you. You are a divine original.

Every moment you have in your life is a gift and an opportunity to enjoy living. It is an opportunity for you to express yourself in love and through love. Each moment is an opportunity to do for yourself and others not because you have to do something, but because you want to. It is a chance for you to live your life and interact with others in a way that will enable you to experience love and joy in all that you do.

Being the best you means that you do something, that you take action. The process can begin with you thinking about what you want to do in your head. However, the manifestation of your ideas and desires in your life cannot occur until you act on them. A fitness trainer I once knew used to say, “No pain, no gain.” When you do not act on who you want to be, then who you dream about becoming continues to be nothing more then a dream.

So just for today, just for this moment, dare to live in the fullness and beauty of you were created to be. Do your best. Live your life in a way that enables love to flow in and through you. Remember the only one limiting your ability to be the best you that you can be is you.
