Z is for Zealous

May 29, 2013 Sharon Jacobson

I was sitting enjoying a cup of tea excited about how I had made it through to the letter Y. I was entering the last week, thinking just one more letter, and I will have made it through the entire alphabet one week and one letter at a time, A through Z. I was thinking about words that begin with the letter Z and after looking through my dictionary decided, Z was going to be for Zealous. I closed my eyes, rolled over and went to sleep prepared for a good night’s sleep and some amazing dreams.

Upon waking up in the morning, I was greeted by an email from a friend with an early morning meandering on her word for the day. You got it her word for the day was Zealous. I laughed and told her I was going to use her meandering in my last reflection of the alphabet. This is what she wrote:

The word for today is ZEALOUS! Be zealous about life! For when you look at life with enthusiasm, there is a Lightness, a freshness, an openness... Be Zealous about Love for Love is the answer to so many things.... love of service to others, love of nature, love the world, love your neighbor as yourself. Be Zealous about your God...for in, with and through all things God is there. Be zealous about your relationships; to God, nature, and your brothers and sisters of humankind.
Zealous gratitude and forgiveness is a daily must. So for today, be Zealous with all the goodness of Life.
May God bless you and yours always and in all ways.

So what exactly does it mean to be zealous. To be zealous means to be filled with eagerness and a passion for a person, cause, or ideal. Being zealous means you are passionate about your life and all you have been given by the Infinite. People who are zealous about life tap into the divine energy, which pulsates within us and around us. Zealous people see life as a series of opportunities for personal growth and development, rather then one more obstacle to overcome.

Being zealous means we have a passionate love for ourselves and are grateful for all we have been blessed with in our lives. Our passion for life is fueled and supported by those we are journeying with and the wisdom teachers, past, present, and future, which provide us with words and lessons, which expand our horizons and our understanding of the Infinite Presence in our lives and in the lives of others. Our zealousness challenges us to live compassionately and to want to share our passion with others. It becomes an integral part of who we are. Being zealous is not so much something we do, it is a part of who we are and becomes a part of all we do.
