Goodness

https://reflectionsfromafriend.wordpress.com/2012/09/

This morning I realized that this is my last blog, at least for this year, on acknowledgement. I have reflected on acknowledging feelings, that we are works in progress, and our need to spend time with our Higher Power and ourselves. As I was writing in my gratitude journal, I realized that it was a space where I acknowledged the goodness in self, others, and the world.

Listening to the news, which I try not to do anymore, there is such a focus on creating an aura of fear, evil, corruption, and negativity. It is only when one turns to sources such as http://Upworthy.com or http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/ that one gains exposure to stories which inspire, create environments where people can empower themselves, and promote goodness in the world.

Recognizing goodness is important, but the process of doing so starts at home. So what are the good qualities about each of us? How does it feel when we acknowledge that we are good? A friend of mine has a rule in her home about not using the word “trying.” I like to add the words/phrases hoping, wish, and would like to, to the list of words to delete from my vocabulary. I have been learning to replace those words/phrases with I am. I am good! I am doing and dreaming. I am writing my truth. I am giving myself the affirmations I need. I am receiving good. I am open to receiving goodness in my life. I am _________. Focusing on what we are is about focusing on our goodness and the fullness of who we are grateful to be. It is about giving thanks and acknowledging that which is and that which we are claiming will be.

Then I remember that I am surrounded by goodness. I am blessed with people who walk in their goodness. I am grateful for the goodness in the world. What if we began to give thanks for the goodness we see in others and in the world? What if we began to give thanks for the goodness we want to see and manifest in the world? When we do, we are then giving thanks and acknowledging the goodness, love, light, and positive energy we want to manifest in this world. We give thanks for what we know will be in a time other than this moment. It is not about wishing there was goodness, or trying to create goodness, but acknowledging the changes that will happen because of the goodness and light we are pouring into others, the world and ourselves.

So this week, let us all give thanks for the goodness in our lives, in the lives of others, and the world in which we live. Let us acknowledge and give thanks for the goodness we are manifesting in our lives, the lives of others, and the world. Let us acknowledge all that we have to be grateful for and remember that we are the goodness in our lives, this day and all days.
