Do Unto Others
You didn’t have to do that.
You didn’t have to say that.
It’s appreciated,
but you didn’t have to.
It’s the simple acts of kindness,
that sometimes mean the most.
Like dinner arriving out of nowhere
when you are exhausted
and too tired to cook.
Do unto others
I was taught
as you would have them do unto you.
Do we do this?
It is those simple acts of kindness
that mean the world to others
Doing unto others
requires us to move beyond ourselves
and love others selflessly
in the same way we are loved
by the Ultimate.
It is not about me thinking I am the Divine,
rather stepping outside my ego
and being part of a spiritual practice.
This practice is not just about giving to others
it is also about giving to me.
There is an inner transformation
when we serve others,
when we show them grace,
when we answer their prayers
before they are even spoken.
Doing unto others is for them
and for ourselves.
It is not about waiting for them to pray,
it is about hearing them
before even asked.
