It’s already paid for,
I said, when a friend asked
what is your poem going to be about.
Oh, you are writing about Jesus.
No, I am writing about paying for it.
Jesus is not the only one
who has already paid for something.
Around the world
people are paying for things
so that others are told
it’s already paid for.
It might be at this restaurant
where people pay it forward
for those in need
or at this hair salon
where people pay for others services
or at a local coffee shop
where people will pay for someone’s coffee.
Daily people are paying it forward
and someone else says to them
it’s already paid for.
It’s why we do not charge here,
others have paid it forward
so we can say
it’s already paid for.
How are you paying it forward,
so that someone else can say
it’s already paid for.
