Ganesha and Me
It started when I was three
this relationship between Ganesha and me.
I didn’t know its name at the time,
I just knew it was there to protect me
and help guide me on my journey.
Ganesha is known for his broken tusk
and his four arms
each which I strive to embody.
Ganesha’s broken tusk
is about transcendence.
it reminds me that true knowledge
comes when we let go of all which
eases the Ultimate out.
It is about being determined
to fulfill your calling and purpose
regardless of the obstacles that arise.
His hands each challenge me to grow.
One teaches me to cut myself free
from worldly attachments.
They are just things.
One teaches me to do something daily
to keep me on the path
the Ultimate has created for me.
One teaches me to never stop
my spiritual practices because they bring me
liberation and joy.
The last one reminds me
of the protection,
fearlessness
and divine blessings
I have experienced
and will continue to
in my journey.
Spending time with the Ganesha
who sits on my desk
reminds me of how blessed I am
to be surrounded by
and guided by
one who always helps me
to balance my inner mind.
Ganesha may mean something,
or perhaps nothing to you,
but it is for these reasons,
it is about Ganesha and me.
