Whiskey Business
I am not much of a drinker,
I just finished a bottle of bourbon
I was gifted before COVID.
But whiskey is my go to
when I have had one of those days.
There is nothing risky,
about what whiskey means in my life.
Whiskey
once known as
the water of life.
It has long been known
as a treatment for ailments,
a way to preserve the soul,
and even ward off evil spirits.
Whiskey is like me,
undergoing an ongoing transformation.
Whiskey transforms from a raw grain
to a refined spirit.
Like whiskey,
life has refined me,
the heat and pressure in my life
has distilled me.
Life’s lessons have helped me
leave behind the pollutants
and helping me to become
what brewers call
the angel’s share.
it is the portion which
is absorbed into the universe
without ever being seen.
you may not see my transformation
or the parts of me
which have already transcended,
but I have been distilled
and transformed
and each process enables me to be of service
and honor all with
warmth, abundance and hospitality.
