Blessed and Highly Flavored

December 7, 2024 Sharon Jacobson

Blessed and Highly Flavored

I always tell people
I am blessed and highly flavored.
I know I am blessed.
I have been given so much.
Sometimes I have immediately seen the beauty
in God’s gift to me.
Other times,
I have to be like a chef
and work with what I have been given
and allow the flavors to develop and bloom.
The blessed comes easy,
but the flavored comes from my commitment
and my willingness to work through all circumstances
to find the beautiful while facing difficulties.
It is through the journey that I find the beauty
in the most difficult of times.
The blessed comes from God’s commitment to me
and the flavored comes from my commitment to God.
Together it allows me to know
I am blessed and highly flavored.

Expectations

January 6, 2023 Sharon Jacobson

Expectations

I hate expectations.
It seems like they set me up
to get hurt, angry, and disappointed,
especially when things do not turn out
the way I expect them to.
Agreements are one thing,
expectations are another.
Agreements mean I have reached an understanding
with others about how things will be.
Expectations are about me having my own understanding,
without communicating about what
I expect you to know or do.
Sometimes my expectations are not with people,
but with life,
like when I expect things will go the way I want them to.
to be simple, not hard, or
to be easy and not complex.
what is frustrating is when I do not even realize
I have an expectation,
until I am frustrated
and then I see it.
once I release my expectations,
I find peace
especially when I release
my expectations about the Divine.

why Am I Happy

June 5, 2022 Sharon Jacobson

Why I am Happy

Why are you always so happy?
One of my students aske recently.
I am happy because I am so blessed.
I am thankful for everything I am given.
it doesn’t matter whether it is big or small,
whether it was easy to get through or not,
whether I asked for it or not.
if it came into my life, then I am grateful.
Being able to give thanks
in any situation,
makes me happy.
What about when we make your life challenging?
I give thanks for the challenges.
I give thanks for the questions.
I give thanks for the chance to grow and evolve.
It is not about the situation,
but about how I go through it.
If I can give thanks for it
If I can see the blessing in it,
then I am happy and I am at peace.
