Y is for You

May 7, 2014 Sharon Jacobson

This morning while I was posting my thought for the day to my blog on WordPress, I came across this picture about self-acceptance. While the picture has nothing to do with food, other than counting calories or eating vegan, it has do with something important to one’s approach to cooking, food, and spirituality – YOU. After all, as the sign says we are all different. Our relationships with ourselves, Spirit, and food is not about others, but about us.

As I thought about this, I realized that one could re-create this about food.

Not everyone is a professional chef.

Not everyone can do an accurate brunoise.

Not everyone wants to know what a brunoise is

Not everyone wants to know the joys of French cooking.

Not everyone likes breakfast foods for breakfast.

Not everyone likes eating healthy.

Not everyone wants to be a vegan.

Not everyone is concerned about presentation.

It could also be recreated about spirituality.

Not everyone is a Christian

Not everyone is Jewish.

Not everyone is Muslim.

Not everyone is Buddhist.

Not everyone is a member of an organized religion or faith tradition.

Not everyone believes in a Higher Power other than themselves.

Not everyone wants to or desires to be a part of a faith or spiritual community.

Not everyone finds inspiration in the same places or sources.

Not everyone is concerned about the same spiritual matters that you are.

The ending for both would be the same as the picture

We’re all different.

So stop worrying about what others will think

And just find what works for you.

Not anyone else.

You.

Whatever you are creating in your life, be it food or your spiritual belief system, do it with integrity. Live the life that works for you, not anyone else. Just You. It’s that simple. Live authentically. Remember that we were not created to be clones of each other. You have no control over how others are going to perceive anything you create, so do not take what they think personally. What they believe is about them and their belief system.Accept yourself for who you are. Walk in your truth and do what works for you. Not anybody else, just you.
