You are worth the investment!

October 23, 2014 Sharon Jacobson

The other day I came across this quote from Kevin Ngo and it fit perfectly with the theme for this month. Occasionally we all need a word of encouragement or a reminder that we are worth the investment. That includes me. If, as don Miguel Ruiz suggests we do the best we can in all things, then that is our best. We each have the potential to do our best and to know that we can manifest the life we are trying to create. It is important that we always remember to stay focused on the vision we have for the life we are seeking to manifest. If we work on this vision a little bit every day, then we will achieve it. When we stop taking those daily actions in our lives, we inadvertently or unconsciously create the life we do not want. So stay encouraged and create a circle of support, as encouragement is important for all.

I remember my Bubby telling me something similar when I was younger. She would tell me to think about the kind of life I wanted to have when I was 50, 60, 70, and older and begin planning in my 20’s for that life. In some aspects of my life, I am living the life I want. However, in other words the lack of care I gave to my physical health has resulted in me spending more time changing the life I do not want into the life I do.

What is important is that we remember to invest in ourselves every day. Doreen Virtue, in her book Assertiveness Training for Earth Angels discussed how despite the time constraints in her life as a single working mother and full time student, she spent a little time every day working on her book. She made no excuses about how she did not have time; she just made the time to invest in herself and her vision a priority.

So what are you trying to create in your life? Then be intentional about taking the time each day to do something to help you breathe life into your vision. Sometimes that means you have to stop doing other things so that you have more time to invest in your vision. For example, if you watch television, what if you cut your viewing time in half or eliminated it. I have eliminated all TV watching until 9 pm. Since I use social media for my ministry, I eliminated all apps from my phone and Facebook that were non-productive (i.e. Scrabble). One of the challenges I once gave a client was to create a stop doing list and working that. He found that as he stopped doing the things on his list, he had more time to invest in his passions and vision and ultimately created the job of his dreams. It is amazing what happens when we take the time to invest in ourselves. So today, I want to encourage you to invest in yourself and if you ever feel led, take the time to remind me as well. We all need those words of encouragement.
