Size Matters

May 14, 2022 Sharon Jacobson

Size Matters

Size matters.
It is so easy for me to overlook
a behavior or action because
it didn’t appear to be a big deal.
Positive or negative, size matters.
Those little tiny acts of kindness
may not seem like a big deal,
but over time they build
something greater then
they may appear on their own.
It may not seem like a big deal
when someone opens the door for me,
or smiles at me,
or in some way, shape or form
acknowledges my presence.
The size of those actions may not seem important,
but overall they create a positive flow of energy
which flows into and through my existence.
They help strengthen me
and motivate me
in good times and bad.
Conversely, people’s negativity
may seem inconsequential,
but it only takes one match to
contribute to a five alarm fire.
it just takes one unkind word
to ruin a reputation.
It just takes the faith of a mustard seed
to move mountains.
Trees grow from seeds.
Movements grow from a single action.
May we keep collecting the positives
and enjoying their cumulative effect.
Conversely, people can die from a little poison.
People lose limbs from a small wound,
Reputations can be ruined by a single sentence.
All sizes matter
because they all have an impact on the world.
May we be mindful of the smallest of negatives
and address them before their cumulative effect
creates harm.
Size matters,
so let’s pay attention to all of it,
tiny and large.

Staying Happy

Staying Happy

Are you ever not happy?
That is what I was recently asked.
It is not that I am never unhappy,
but I work on making it a commercial,
and not a state of permanent residence.
I do that because
I do not like who I become
when I am unhappy.
Being unhappy tends to
bring out the worst in me.
Staying happy
makes it easier for the best of me
to shine and radiate to others.
When I am happy,
it is easier for me to radiate that
love and energy to others
and raise the vibrational frequency of this planet.
So I spend energy each day
staying happy.
You?

Mirrors

December 11, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

Mirrors

I have a love hate relationship with mirrors.
I love when they reflect
what I want to see.
I hate them when they reflect
what I dislike in myself.
Mirrors are not always
those pieces of reflective glass.
Sometimes they are people,
like the ones who get on your last nerve.
The one’s who have qualities and characteristics
which you want to be critical of.
Sometimes when I am ready to
push myself to that next level
I make a list of people and what
they do that grates on me.
then I make it about me and
I cringe when I see
how what I dislike about others,
at least most of the time,
is something I need to work on
myself.
It’s easier to see the parts of me I love
reflected in others,
than the qualities I don’t
mirrored back to me.
At the same time, I am grateful
for my mirrors
because they help me grow and evolve
and become the best me I can be.

Sacred Observer

August 16, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

We have so many laws,
so many regulations,
to control the pollution of our air,
but what about
our minds,
our hearts,
and our souls?

What do we do in our lives
to control the polluted thoughts,
feelings,
beliefs, and
attitudes
which are toxic?

May we make this world
a better place by being
a sacred observer.
May we be the one
who cleanses the toxins
out of our hearts, and
the negative thoughts
in our mind.
May we be the
sacred observers
who remove from us
all that is not of the Divine.
