Become Your Ashram

August 17, 2026 Sharon Jacobson

Become Your Ashram

Traveling to an ashram
became part of my dream
while reading Eat, Pray, Love.
Spending time in a quiet place,
meditating, praying, and
becoming spiritually disciplined.
I thought spending time in an ashram
would offer me a structured life where
I could focus on inner growth.
It was a space where I could begin each day
meditating,
doing yoga,
spiritual study
and reflecting with others.
It was a space where I could engage in selfless service and
practice mindfulness in every action.
It is a space where everything is simple, and basic
and my mind was clear and focused.
The reality is we do not have to travel to an ashram;
we can become one.
We can structure our life
with daily and consistent routines,
of yoga, or meditation,
We can be consistent about
when we eat and rest
because doing to helps us
live a simple and orderly life.
We can keep our space clean and decluttered
stabilizing the energy in which we live.
We can spend time,
as much as we can,
away from gadgets
and spending time with ourselves.
We can be present when we are eating,
and do so with intent and giving thanks.
We can spend every moment of our day,
living in the moment,
being of service
to yourself
and others.
I am working on arriving at mine,
where are you in your journey?

Consistency Compounds

December 30, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Consistency compounds,
this message rings in my head.
It reminds me to be consistent
in the performance of my
spiritual practices.
So every day I take time to think
and reflect on
my  thought for the day
and then I write in my gratitude journal,
inspiration journal,
and intention journal

It is no longer something
I think about doing,
it is something I just do.
It is like breathing
or brushing my teeth.
It no longer is about me
being intentional about doing it.
It is about me feeling
like I am missing something
when I do not.

Consistency compounds in my life.
The blessings compound
the growth compounds.
the understanding compounds
and the testimony I offer to others
compounds.

There is a blessing in the
repetition.
The doing the same thing
over and over,
but knowing the blessings
of consistently working
at being more in tune with
the Ultimate
continues to help me
grow and evolve.
All because
consistency compounds
