Sometimes I am angry

October 24, 2026 Sharon Jacobson

Sometimes I am angry

F___ this shit.
Sometimes that is what I want to say.
I want to do more than have a cup
with the words wrapped around it.
Sometimes I am angry
at a person or a situation
that has crossed my boundaries, or
violated my values,
Sometimes I am angry
at myself
because I have abandoned my own truth.
But my anger is what led me on a trail
to the vulnerable spaces.
it lead me to the layers of grief
from losing my family,
friends
and those I thought loved me.
Anger led me to the raw places,
the places that needed healing
the places that needed to be seen
and heard.
Sometimes I am angry
because I have to do the work to heal
or the anger will consume me.
Sometimes I have to be angry
because it gives me the courage
to fight back
and fight through
and be transformed.
Sometimes I have to embrace the anger
stare into it
and allow me to be filled with
insight and compassion.
to open the door to
grace and forgiveness.
Sometimes I give thanks for the anger
because it is not that I feel it,
but how I have used it
to become who I am in this moment.

Binging In and Out

June 13, 2026 Sharon Jacobson

Binging In and Out

I am not much of a binger,
well at least not when it comes to TV,
as we do not have one.
I don’t want to waste my time
mindlessly consuming
junk food and junk tv,
escaping from reality,
and not being in the moment.
Then I had to stop myself
because I have binged.
I have tuned into Youtube playlists
not for any of the reasons above,
but because like a theologian
I was looking for lessons
from the Divine
about others and for myself.
I listened for those spiritual lessons,
and answers to prayers.
I have realized that
binging caused me to
press the pause button
on my life
and have a Sabbath moment
that prevented me from burning out.
They reminded me of long
and meaningful conversations
which moved us past the superficial understanding
and towards a greater understanding of life
and of humanity
It’s not about
binging in or out
it’s about the intention
and the balance.
