Healing

October 9, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

I can’t speak for anybody but myself,
but I hate those days where I just feel off.
Those days where I feel distracted,
where I feel off balance.
Those days where I am hungry,
but don’t know what I want to eat.
I am tired,
but I can’t seem to sleep.
I have tons to do,
but do not have the desire
or the focus to do anything.

My brain won’t shut off and
I just want to scream.
It is in the midst of that storm,
that the wise voice in me
tells me to just stop.
Eat, drink, make sure
I have taken my meds,
lay down,
stop the clutter in my head,
turn everything off,
and focus on the silence.
It is in the midst of the storm,
when I drag myself
to the silence,
that I find my peace
and clarity
and the wisdom
to repair what was broken
and remind me
what I need to do
to stay balanced, focused, and centered
and get back to that space
if sending and receiving
the most positive of energy
to myself and others.

Rest in Peace

October 18, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Rest in peace
my friend.
It is what we say
when we lose a dear one.
When we know their
life’s work is done
and they can now
rest in peace.

What if anytime we
gave something time to rest,
we said rest in peace.
Like when one parks their car,
or lets their meat rest before cutting
or I shut my wheelchair off
or we shut our technology down
or we give anything that serves us
time to rest.

Rest in peace
my car,
my phone,
my computer,
my wheelchair,
my friend.
Thank you for your service today.
now rest in peace
until we meet again.

Kitty Lessons

May 5, 2017 Sharon Jacobson

Dear God,

So today I want to thank you for the lessons that Dr. Wally and Mr Mittens have tried to teach me. Some of them I have mastered more then others, but at least they have tried. So thank you for sending them into my life. So here goes.

Lesson #1 – Never be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Mr Mittens has taught me to be willing to explore what is on the other side of my comfort zone. He always tries to get through the doors that are closed and when he senses it is not where he needs to be he leaves and if he really likes it, then he stays. He has taught me a similar message to what I am reading about now in Kyle Cease’s book I Hope I Screw This Up. It is the same message my Bubby used to tell me, “She who fails to fail, fails to succeed.”

Lesson #2 – Take a nap. Cats seem to do this so well. Whenever they are tired, they sleep, which with them is about 16 hours a day. Working at home, I have the luxury of taking a nap when I really need one. Sometimes it is the way for me to quiet my brain so I can hear your ideas and inspiration coming to me. Sometimes it is just that my brain and body need a break.  Even you took a rest from creating, so I should too.
