Surprise

August 19, 2024 Sharon Jacobson

Surprise

Have you ever thought you had
a clear plan for your life?
Then life happened,
and you were surprised
with situations and circumstances
that upset your plans
and maybe even shatter your dreams.
Then you realize that was the problem;
they were your plans
and your dreams.
They may not have been God’s.
Our ways are not God’s
and our understandings are not God’s.
Sometimes we have to accept those moments
that surprise us
and give our life
unexpected directions.
Our lives are filled with surprises.
Give thanks for them
and know they are taking us on a great adventure
we may not have taken on our own.
Surprise!

Welcome

December 19, 2022 Sharon Jacobson

Welcome

There are so many things that we welcome
like good times,
friends,
good news,
and things which bring us joy.
However, one thing my Bubby taught me
was to welcome everything,
especially that which I want to avoid.
So I welcome all the gifts
the Universe is sending me
those I can’t wait to unwrap
and those I would rather not.
I was taught there is a gift in each and
I cannot receive the gifts
if I do not welcome them.
I may not like their arrival,
but when I welcome and accept them,
then I welcome the gift and blessing in them
and I learn to see blessings
in all I am given,
whether I want to welcome them or not.

Doubt

Doubt

Doubting is ok.
For the longest time,
I was told it meant I had no faith.
Doubt means I have faith.
Doubt means I am open to the unknown.
Doubt is about me being willing
to question my need to be in control
Doubt is about exploring myself
and being at peace with not knowing
what will happen or when.
Doubt is about me doubting
my own doubt
and being open to exploing
the mysteries of life
and embarking on a daily adventure.

My Heart

September 21, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

I have to see a cardiologist
she said and
I could feel the concern in her words
They saw a thickening
in one of her chambers
and she kept talking
about her visit
and what they said
but the words which stuck out to me were
open
clear
strong
and full.
I know she was talking about
the physical
but I was thinking about
the spiritual
and to what extent my heart
was open,
clear,
strong,
and full.
I was reminded of a meditation
where I massaged my heart
and slowly removed
all that was hard
leaving behind
one that was soft
and so now
I am examining my heart
to ensure it is not only soft
but open,
clear,
strong, and
full.

The Heart

April 13, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

At the end of the day
what is all come s down to
is my heart.
In times like these,
we see the condition
of each others hearts.
We see those at are
hardened,
soft,
closed,
open,
arrogant,
humbled
broken, and
healed.

This can be a time
when we contribute to the harming
or the healing
of our heart
and the hearts
of those around us.

May we take time
to radiate love,
light,
and positive energy
to our own hearts
and to the hearts of
those around us

May this be a time
for the healing and
gentle care of our hearts
and the hearts of
humanity.

May we hold each
others hearts in our
hands with the gentleness
and tenderness
we would a newborn

In our own way
we are each in a state
of being newborns.
May we honor
and celebrate the
newness emerging in us all

Open

open hands.jpg

I can’t shake your hand,
when it is in a fist.
I can’t hug you,
when your arms are not open.
I can’t love you,
when your heart is closed.
Nor can you love me
when I am not open.

May we open our hearts,
our minds, and
our souls
to being loved.
May we open our fists
to shake hands.
May we open ourselves
to receiving a hug. May we open ourselves
to the generosity and support
of others.

Opening up!

November 11, 2014 Sharon Jacobson

As most of you know, I had a near death experience on November 1, 2014 and have spent quite a bit of time the last 10 days processing everything that has happened in my life. I have learned a number of lessons along the way. One of them is about how opening up is an act of service. One of the most significant aspects of my healing has been my active choice to be transparent about what is happening in my life and jumping into the blessings, which this significant change has brought me. The only way for me to grow in my own personal journey was to work and climb to the next level.

This morning was a real test of my willingness to do that.
