Seeing it

February 27, 2024 Sharon Jacobson

Seeing It

How do you do it?, he asked.
Do what?, I asked.
See the presence of Spirit in everything.
What I wanted to ask was
what keeps you from seeing it.
Seeing the gifts, blessings and opportunities
is something my Bubby taught me to do decades ago.
Seeing it,
was like breathing.
Spirit is everywhere and in everything.
If you look for its presence
you will see it.
Sometimes you will find it that which brings you joy,
other times in the challenging times.
You will see the Divine in those you like and love
and those you do not.
You will feel it in the news which brings you joy
and that which makes you ask why and wonder.
Bubby taught me to see the Ultimate
with each of my senses
and to keep looking
deeper and deeper
until I saw the gift.
She taught me to see the blessings
in even the smallest of cookie crumbs,
especially when we would combine them
to make the base of a cheesecake.
Together those crumbs achieved more
then anyone of them could alone.
It enabled me to see it.
Right now I am seeing it
and looking for it
and in some situations seeking it
until I am seeing it
and hoping you are able to see it too.

100% of our donations go to support our ability to provide low and no cost offerings to I those seeking to grow and evolve spiritually.

Spiritual Detective

August 10, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

I used to love mystery novels,
but now I am playing the detective
in my own life.
I follow the clues
the things I see,
the things which fall between the cracks
and are visible but not.
I follow the scents,
the sounds,
the tastes,
the textures
and all that life offers
as I work my way through
that which I do not know,
do not understand,
and wonder about in my life.
I follow the clues,
I peel back the layers,
I look at things with a magnifying glass,
to make sure I get even the tiniest of clues.
I keep on the case,
until I solve the mystery,
and know I have come
to a deeper understanding,
to a deeper relationship
with the one who sent me
the clues
in the first place.

in the Silence

November 11, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

It is quiet in my home,
or so it seems.
All but me are sleeping,
and I can hear the sound
of my fingers on the keyboard.
However, it is when I stop
and listen
that I hear the sounds
which allude me when I am
not listening.

I sit in silence and
I begin to hear
the symphony
which can only play
in the silence.
It is when I hear the vibrations
which come from the percussions
in my home.
it is when I hear the tones of the brass
brass
the sounds of the strings, and
the magic of the woodwinds.

it is when I hear the elements
of air as they wash over my home.
it is when I hear the
snow melting off my roof.
it is when I hear the sound
of the furnace sending heat
through my home.
it is in the silence that I hear
the plants and trees singing
a song of their own as they
dance with the environment.

it is in the silence
that I hear all things
the tones,
the chords,
the harmony
and the music of creation.

God is on my side

July 23, 2018 Sharon Jacobson
god.jpg

There are moments that
I know God is on my side.
I feel God’s presence
I hear the soft whispering in my ear
I smell those fragrances only I recognize as holy.
I see those signs that are just for me
I taste the freshness of creation in my foods
In all this I know something quite powerful
God is on my side.

One Quadrillion Synapses

August 10, 2015 Sharon Jacobson

I recently came across an article by Mark Batterson, author of In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, and Wild Goose Chase. I found this while doing some research on the five senses and faith. So I thought I would share this with you this week.

One Quadrillion Synapses

I came across an interesting factoid today as I was researching for my next book.

The human body has approximately 100,000,000 (one hundred million) sensory receptors that enable us to see, hear, taste, touch, and smell. And that is a testament to our Divine Designer. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. By the way, when was the last time you thanked God for each of your senses? We have seven million cones that enable us to perceive about ten million different colors. Doesn’t it seem like we owe God seven million thank yous?

Here and Now

March 4, 2015 Sharon Jacobson

When we talk about being present, it sounds easier than it is. It is not that it is difficult, it is that we start off in the present and then begin our time travels as we tell our story. For example, the first question I ask when we begin our love and inspiration gatherings is how are you doing today and/or what are you dealing with today? So often, what happens is someone may begin with what they are dealing with today. However, then we travel into the past to hear the explanation of how the person got into this situation or what they have learned from the past. Sometimes we travel to the future and talk about what the person would like to see happen next or what they would like the outcome to be. I laugh as I write this because I know that there have been times in our gatherings that I have done my own share of time traveling and not being present. I would like to say that I was not as present as I could be, but one is either present or not.
