Divine by Design

January 31, 2025 Sharon Jacobson

Divine by Design

I am divine by design
because I was designed by the Divine.
I am a work of art,
which hangs in the museum of life.
I am part of a collection of other
pieces of art
and together we bring meaning to the world.
We are more then just works of art,
we are the caretakers of our own work.
Each moment we make choices which
contribute to maintaining our artistry
or deface the work we were created to be.
If I cannot see the beauty within myself,
then how can I expect others to.
If I deface my beauty,
then I give others permission to do the same.
I am committed to self care,
love and compassion
remembering to do so because
I am divine by design
because I was designed by the Divine

This Is Me

January 7, 2024 Sharon Jacobson

This Is Me

There is always going to be someone who does not like me, |
but that is about them, not me.
I love me, just as I am.
I was created by I am
in the image of I am
to be just as I am.
This is me.
What you do not like in me
is about what you do not like in yourself.
What I do not like about me
is about me
and the lies which I am cleansing myself of.
I need to begin with the truth of my beauty,
through which and
in which I was created.
This is me.
There is not,
never has been,
never will be
anyone exactly like me.

A Fresh Perspective

May 12, 2023 Sharon Jacobson

A Fresh Perspective

There are those moments in my life,
when I look at a situation
and all I can see is what I am used to seeing.
Sometimes I need to have a fresh perspective.
Sometimes I need to forget what I think I know
and what I am used to seeing
and thinking
and feeling and
open myself up to it being the first time.
It is about having a beginner’s mindset
where I can see and understand things
that I could not comprehend before.
It was like when I was learning from Dr Riciutti
and she said when you are writing a sermon
forget all the ways you have heard it preached
and look for something new in the scripture.
It is especially in those moments
when I feel frustrated, hurt or angry
that I stop and wash the muck from my eyes
and work to find the beauty and the blessings
in all situations.
It is like a peacock,
one moment I do not see the beauty
and the next moment I do.
I have to look for the beauty
by always bringing a fresh perspective
into the experience

Beauty

January 27, 2023 Sharon Jacobson

Beauty

Growing up, my mother would take me window shopping.
Rarely did we go into the store.
We would stop and look.
My mother would point out
the beauty in each window.
She taught me to see the beauty in life,
to be able to appreciate what I saw,
without having to have it.
Recently a friend of mine looked at me strangely
because I commented about a guy being handsome.
He is, but it doesn’t mean I want him,
or want to be in a relationship with him.
It simply means I can appreciate the beauty
the Ultimate has created in this world
and see and appreciate it for what it is.
Like Matthew Fox, I can see beauty in the cracks.
I can see the beauty in the stains in old coffee cups,
I can see beauty in all of creation.
Seeing it doesn’t mean I have to buy it,
want it,
or crave it.
It just means I see it,
appreciate it,
and give thanks for its contribution
to beautifying the world I live in.

I am Beautiful

September 2, 2022 Sharon Jacobson

I am Beautiful

I was tired and stressed
and looking at myself on my zoom screen
and all I could see was this tired,
fat, person
with dark circles under their eyes
and all the physical imperfections
that have been pointed out to me over time.
Then I heard this voice,
which reduced me to tears,
saying you are my child
and you are beautiful.
You are my child
who is loving and kind,
thoughtful and considerate.
You are my child.
That, in and of itself,
makes you beautiful

So stop putting us down.
You are a reflection of me.
Honor us both and
remember you are beautiful.

Discovering

August 6, 2022 Sharon Jacobson

Discovering

Sometimes I see things
and sometimes I have seen it so much
that I no longer see it.
Sometimes I fall into a comfort zone
when I connect with the Ultimate
and lose all the opportunities
to connect that require me
to step outside my comfort zone
and discover new ways.
When I open myself up
and find new ways to embrace
the beauty and sacredness
in this world,
I find things and see things
in ways I could not before.
Maybe that is why when I am struggling
my wife reminds me to take a nap.
It is in that time with the Ultimate
that I experience things I cannot
any other time or state of being.
There are times I hear spirit telling me
look again
and then I see something amazing
that I almost missed
or I meet someone
I never would have met before.
It's not so much about the what
but the openness to discovering
new ways of sensing the Universe
and all it has to offer and teach me.
Discover a new way to embrace beauty and connect with the sacred today.

My Cave

My Cave

My wife laughs at my cat and I
because we love to sleep
with the blankets pulled over our heads
as if we are in a dark cave.
I cannot speak for the cat,
but I love my cave.
There is something dark, peaceful,
and inspiring about my cave.
It is the darkness of my cave,
that thoughts come to me ,
words flow through me,
understandings emerge,
and I see beauty and gifts,
in otherwise challenging situations.
It is in my cave,
that I am given eyes that can hear
and ears that can see.
I find myself blessed with insights
which evade me in the light.
My cave may be dark
but it is warm, comforting,
and filled with treasures.

Beauty

November 30, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Beauty, they  say
is in the eye of the beholder
But it is so much more.
Beauty is like a food.
It fills one’s spirit.
It helps us see things,
feel things,
understand things,
see things,
and experience things
in a way that
surpasses understanding.

Beauty
is healing.
nurturing,
transformative,
and evidence of the
Divine.

Beauty is
about you and me
and the way we see
ourselves and each other.
When we look for it,
we will see it all around us.
The more we look for it
the more it will surround us.

Beauty
will keep you warm on cold winter days
cool in the summers,
birthing newness in the spring,
and being colorful and transforming
in the fall.
Beauty is
what you as an artist
create in yourself
with every stroke of your brush.

In Beauty May I Walk

February 27, 2015 Sharon Jacobson

I just wanted to take a moment to think you for being the beauty that walks before me, behind me, above me, and below me. I want to thank you for being the trail of beauty I have wandered on now for the past 58 years. This prayer is so powerful for me, in part because walking is not an act I take for granted; it is something I have to be intentional about doing and practicing. It is a process where I am ever mindful of every step I take. I am always thinking about the trail I am on and what is on it with me. For example, the other day I had to have blood drawn and there was no clear space near the curb cuts for Zoe to push me. So I held on to the back of the wheelchair like a walker and one step at a time I walked carefully and prayerfully across the parking lot and through the snow. With each step, I could see the beauty of you who was moving my legs and guiding my feet, especially the right one where there is no feeling. It is in those moments that I am especially mindful that your beauty surrounded me and always has.
