Being Painted

January 31, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

so often in my life,
I want to be the artist.
I want to be the one who
buys the canvas,
the paints,
and does the painting.
I want to be in control
of the canvas, the paints
and the painting.

What if I let go of the need
to be in control of it all.
What if I allowed myself to
just be the canvas and
allowed the Ultimate to
paint me using the
paints of the Divine.

What must I do to just
show up and be the canvas?
What do I have to do to
open myself up to the
brushstrokes of the Divine?

Creative Listening

January 24, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

There is something about listening
really listening,
which opens our creative energy
and allows us to express ourselves
in ways which are surprising,
refreshing,
and unique.

Listening is more than just hearing.
It is about really listening to each other.
It is about paying attention in a way that
is quiet and fascinated.
It is about being drawn in and
attracted to what is being said.
It is about being in the moment
and listening with a sense of
holiness

When we listen in this way,
we open ourselves up and
allow the creative forces within
to emerge,
to flow,
to present new thoughts,
and wisdom from the Ultimate
It is about holy listening which allows
for creative expression
through all the mediums
gifts, and
talents
with which we have been blessed.

Strangers?

January 17, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

Just because I do not know you
or I am not familiar with you,
does that make you a stranger?

What does it mean to know someone
to be familiar with them?
When I am around strangers
am I thinking they are strange?

Or am I thinking you are like me.
You too are blessed.
We were both created by the Ultimate
in love, as love and to generate love.

I may not know your name.
I may never have spoken to you
or had anything to do with you,
but I may know that you are blessed
and therefore you are not a stranger

Being Impeccable

January 11, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

Be impeccable with your words.
That agreement also tells me to
guard my thoughts,
and ideas, but
it does not tell me
to guard my face.
I have worked to control
what comes out of my mouth,
but not the gestures
that my face makes and
actions speak
louder than words.

Being impeccable,
now means I have to
guard the looks on my face
and the gestures
I may intentionally make
and the ways I express
my disdain and
irreverence for others.

Being impeccable means
I have to remember
to be impeccable
with my
thoughts,
words,
actions,
gestures,
and facial expressions,
while remembering
all are a creation
of the Ultimate
and worthy of being
treated impeccably.

The One Who Is Not Busy

January 5, 2020 Sharon Jacobson

The one who is not busy,
is about the time spent
doing nothing but being
with the Ultimate.

The one who is not busy
reminds me it is ok to
designate time to just be
and commune with the Divine.

Becoming the one who is not busy
is about being intentional
about taking time which is just time.
It is about releasing our attachment
to goals and time

Becoming the one who is not busy
is about me letting go
of all the things which fill my calendar
and dictate my life.
It is about me being alone
silent and unattached
and in tune with
the One who is not busy.

Gifting Myself

December 27, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

This holiday season
we give to others,
to organizations,
but rarely to ourselves.
This year I am giving to myself.

This year I am giving
the gift of forgiveness.
I am letting go of
anger,
jealousy
resentment, and
any other negative and toxic
emotion in my body.

I am giving myself the power
to heal as I release
the negative and toxic energies
Ihave stored in my system.
I am saying no to anything that
is not of love, light, and positive energy.

I would say no
to a bowl of poison,
but say yes to it when I
hold on to the energies
which are toxic.

Tis the season to give
myself a cleaner diet
filled with gifts from the Divine
which are nurturing and loving
and wrapped in grace.

Kindness

December 22, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Piety used to make me think
of those who were holier than thou.
Then I learned that piety meant pious
which meant
kind

Kindess
is about showing
grace,
compassion,
gentleness,
love,
and concern for other

Kindness
is about the body, mind, and soul.
It is about our words
and our actions
being one

Kindness
is about being
loving,
giving,
caring,
empathetic and
generous

Kindness
is about doing unto others
as you would have them
do unto you.

Kindness
is unconditional.
It is about giving
without expectations.
It is about what we
experience
as much as what others do

Kindness
is about blessing
and being blessed.
It is all about being kind.

Empathy

December 13, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

When I think of
Empathy
I tend to think of
empathizing
with another person’s sorrow,
disappointment, and
pain.
I think of tasting the salt
in someone else’s tears

Empathy is
about oneness between us.
It means I can feel with you
and be in oneness with you
in good times and bad
I can taste the sweetness
in your joy as well as
the salt in your tears.

Empathy is
about me journeying with you
and thinking about when I was
in that place or situation
and how it felt.

Empathy is
about the intimacy between us
and between us and the Divine
which connect us.
it is about knowing
someone is with us
in good times and bad

Empathy is
about sharing
about caring
about being intimate

about allowing the Divine in me

to connect with the Divine in you.

Empathy is
about us connecting
as one
in good times and bad
because we care
and know we are
both images of the Divine.

Give Thanks

December 6, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

So often we give thanks
for what we have,
for what we have been given,
for prayers answered, and
for that which has been manifested
in our lives.

Today I give thanks for
that which I know is coming.
I give thanks for

that which I pray for today,
for that which I know is coming
because of my faith.

Today I believe in the power
of prayer,
of speaking things into being,
and of believing
in the power of the Universe.

Today I give thanks
for that which has arrived
and that which is coming.
I give thanks for that which I have asked for
and that which the Universe
knows I need.
I just give thanks.

Beauty

November 30, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Beauty, they  say
is in the eye of the beholder
But it is so much more.
Beauty is like a food.
It fills one’s spirit.
It helps us see things,
feel things,
understand things,
see things,
and experience things
in a way that
surpasses understanding.

Beauty
is healing.
nurturing,
transformative,
and evidence of the
Divine.

Beauty is
about you and me
and the way we see
ourselves and each other.
When we look for it,
we will see it all around us.
The more we look for it
the more it will surround us.

Beauty
will keep you warm on cold winter days
cool in the summers,
birthing newness in the spring,
and being colorful and transforming
in the fall.
Beauty is
what you as an artist
create in yourself
with every stroke of your brush.

Liberation

November 22, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

A Tibetan meditation master once prayed
“All those I fly over,
may they all be liberated.”
It is comforting to know
that at some point,
he prayed for me.

What if we did the same.
What if we prayed for those
to the east of us,
to the west,
to the north, and
to the south of us?

What if we prayed for all in
and on the earth,
that which is in the air,
temporarily or permanently,
that which is in the water
and or fire?
What if we remembered to pray
for the liberation of
all things,
places,
and people?
How much different
would the world be?

The Mirror

November 15, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

I look in the mirror
and sometimes I love
what I see and
there are other times
I don’t
However, there has never been
a time when I hated
what I saw so much
that I could slash my wrist
or poison myself
or want to leave this world behind.

When I look in the mirror
what I see is a reflection
of the Divine,
the one who created me,
the one who designed me
the one who tells me
you are beautiful just as you are.

When I look in the mirror
what I see is a reflection
of the Divine
of the one who is love,
is about healing
is about grace
is about wisdom and
is about listening.

When I look in the mirror
I pray for those who
do not see what I see
or feel what I feel.
I pray for those who see
something so painful
that leaving feels better
than staying

When I look in the mirror,
I remember to pray
for those
I know,
those I do not,
those who are whole and
those who are hurting,
those who have asked
for prayer
and those who have not
because we are all
a reflection
of the Divine

Magic

November 8, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Black magic is not just about
the spells others may place on us
or say they have.
It is about the negative energy
and spells we cast on ourselves.

Black magic is about
the toxic negativity,
the words and thoughts
of self doubt,
self-deprecation,
and anything that is
self-harming.

We are the most powerful
practicers of black magic, however,
we can practice
white magic instead.
We can focus on positivity,
radiating love to all,
even if from a distance.

We can undo the negativity
we have thought about ourselves
We can speak goodness and light
about ourselves.
We can speak truth in love.
We can focus on love and light.
We can begin all actions with
a positive intent.

We are our own magicians
what we practice
what we project
is about us.
May we focus on the magic of
love, light and goodness.

Immunity

November 1, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

I would like to say I am immune
to so many things, but I am not.
Anything that can happen to others,
can happen to me.
I am no better than or different than
anyone else.

I am human,
like everyone else.
I am not immune to
being hurt,
sick,
injured,
angry,
upset,
jealous
happy,
loved,
respected or
any other feeling.
I am not immune to
death,
illness,
accidents,
births,
storms,
tornadoes,
hurricanes,
power outages,
floods and
any other experience.
it is this understanding that
I am not immune
that allows me to empathize
with others.

We Get By

October 27, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

We get by
with a little help
from our friends,
from our spiritual community
and from those who journey with us.

We get by because they
inspire us,

encourage us,
challenge us,
laugh with us,
and love us unconditionally
for who we are in this moment.

We get by
because of this unconditional acceptance.
We get by because
they help us laugh at ourselves.
We get by because
they help us heal.
We get by because
it is easier then being
on this journey alone.

100% of our donations go to support our ability to provide low and no cost offerings to those seeking to grow and evolve spiritually.

Rest in Peace

October 18, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Rest in peace
my friend.
It is what we say
when we lose a dear one.
When we know their
life’s work is done
and they can now
rest in peace.

What if anytime we
gave something time to rest,
we said rest in peace.
Like when one parks their car,
or lets their meat rest before cutting
or I shut my wheelchair off
or we shut our technology down
or we give anything that serves us
time to rest.

Rest in peace
my car,
my phone,
my computer,
my wheelchair,
my friend.
Thank you for your service today.
now rest in peace
until we meet again.

Release and Find

October 11, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Winners and losers,
conquerors and conquered,
these ways of thinking
are about celebration and sorrow.
They are about
hatred and suffering.
They leave one feeling
glorious or gutted.

What if we released
our attachment to the outcome.
What if instead of
winning or losing,
we sought joy.
Joy in the experience,
joy in the outcome
joy in just the opportunity
to be in the moment

If it were you

October 4, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Multiple people can do the same thing,
say the same thing,
seem to have the same attitude, or
act in the same way, yet
we treat them different
dependent on who they are.
Do we allow a behavior to trigger
the same emotion
regardless of who it is?

Am I as irritated by the
slow driver who is a stranger
as I am by the slow driver who
I know is my sibling?
Does my knowing you mean
I average things out over time
vs judging based on one experience.
Do we judge others
by the one thing we know they did
while judging others
by the average of our experiences?

We are all the masked singer for someone.
for someone,
we are the one who irritated them,
got on their last nerve,
drove too slow,
cut them off,
or engaged in whatever it was that
made you want to cuss them out
until we were unmasked
and you realized who it was.
Who are you the masked singer for?
What if it were you?

Music

September 28, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

Music is about healing.
it is the medicine which
can bless me,
cleanse me,
heal me,
calm me,
soothe me,
energize me,
and minister to
my soul

Music comes and ministers
to my senses.
it is not always the whole piece.
Sometimes is it a single note.
a few notes
a word
a chorus
or the way it is played.

Music can create something
sacred within me.
It can be an offering
to the eternal.
It can be a reminder of
how the universe is greater
then any single moment in time.

Music is;
it it not always describable;
it just is.

Staying a Beginner

September 20, 2019 Sharon Jacobson

I used to want to be an expert,
however, I realized I was less open
to learning.
Now I work at
staying a beginner

This mindset is not easy.
It  means I drop my expectations
preconceived ideas and
anything I believe an experience
will be like.

What if we approached everyone,
everything
and every situation
as if it were brand new.

What if we paid attention
to all the details, the textures
tastes,
smells
and sights?
What if we approached everything
with wonder?

Would I experience disappointment
or frustration?
How could I if I had released all my
assumptions about how something would be,
my fantasies, and my preconceived ideas?

Would I struggle with relationships
if I remembered they are just like me?
What if I remembered to see everyone
with fresh eyes?
What if I remembered that
even when our intentions are different
they are good?

Would I procrastinate less
or experience less anxiety
because I am not worried about
whether I will succeed or not
or how hard it might be.
What if I focused on what
a new experience this might be?

What if I let go of what I think I know
and lived life with a beginner’s mind.
